Late report from Saturday. Launched at Bayou Bienvenue at 6:30am. The launch is a mess still. Passed through the locks, spent about 20min, and fished each corner of the hot water canal, a few bites but nothing in the boat. The gar were doing belly roles all over. Headed up the intracoastal, turned into one of the first canals, and fished a point on a bend in the canal with water moving toward the point. Picked up a flounder on a blue-moon dudley terror tail. My friend picked up two reds on white w/ silver flake and chartreuse tail bayou chub so I switched after not receiving another strike. Around 7:20 when the water started to move a little more we moved over to another canal of the intracoastal and fished were the canal meet with another creating a fork. We picked up 2 specks drifting then another red and a flounder, a boat come trough and after that the fish turned off. went in the marsh looking for a few more reds and picked 2 more up and came back to our spot and picked up another 6 specks all over 17" we fished that spot for another 30min or so catching nothing but schoolies but alot of them must have been at least 30. We headed back a little after 10am b/c my partner had only a 6hr yard pass from the wifey. Well as luck would have it we got back to the levee and the workers had pushed two barges together in order for dump trucks loaded with gravel pass back and forth, so we just road around and check out the area right off MRGO until we could pass. Needless to say, my friend’s wife was a little p.o'd at me for getting him back late. But oh well she got over it.
Total for the day:
8 specks
4 reds
2 flounder
1 patio umbrella
2 limits of nat bites
